Movie House City Side Staff on completion of the PIPs suicide prevention Course
Thirty staff from Movie House Cinemas recently completed the 'PIPS Preventing Suicide in Your Community’ course.
The Cityside cinema made PIPS their charity of the year last year and raised £2,500 for the North Belfast-based charity, which runs a range of suicide awareness programmes and a helpline.
“The course was really beneficial and gave us all more information on the signals to look out for and the skills to approach people and ask the right questions. I think everyone is afraid to ask people, no matter how close, whether they are feeling depressed. But this course gave us the knowledge to know how and what to ask,” explained Movie House manager Gavin Mallon.
“Nearly everyone knows someone who is or has been depressed at some point in their life. There’s a lot of help out there and this course showed us how to find it so that we can help our friends, family and colleagues,” he added.
