Movie men take up marathon challenge! Four employees of Movie House Cityside have taken up a marathon challenge to support a colleague being treated for cancer.
Séan Grant, Conor McKeown, John Paul Taggart and Ruaidrhí O’Muiri are hitting the roads of County Cork next week to complete the equivalent of five marathons in five days to raise money for Friends of the Cancer Unit, Belfast City Hospital.
Sean said they were determined to raise more than £1000 for the unit with this event – members of staff have already raised £2000 through various fundraising efforts since June.
“This unit is currently managing treatment for a member of staff who is respected, loved and missed very much at Movie House Cityside.
“We are all frustrated that there is so little we can do to help and this is our way of showing we care and trying to do something for this unit, which is helping our colleague,” he added.
The boys are running from Cork City to Kilcatten, Skibbereen, Bantry, Macroom and back to Cork City – each leg is 26 miles. They start on Sunday and are due to finish by Thursday.
“The cinema is supporting us as are a number of our suppliers but if any members of the public would like to make a donation, they can do so at Movie House Cityside,” Sean added.
