Age Ratings
2 November 2023
So, what do BBFC ratings mean?
U – suitable for all.
PG – parental guidance recommended – some scenes may be unsuitable for young children.
12A – suitable for 12 years and over but children younger than 12 may see the film if accompanied by an adult.
15 – for people 15 and over.
18 – only suitable for adults.
While the BBFC classification is a guideline for cinemas, our licence to exhibit films are granted by local councils. We must adhere to these age classifications unless the local council suggests a different classification.
